Brandtjen & Kluge, LLC. recently announced that in partnership with Chicago Public Schools, they will produce a 4-color foil stamped and embossed folder at Graph Expo ’99 that will be donated to Chicago area public schools. Graph Expo ’99 runs October 17 – 20, in Chicago, IL and Kluge will be running the job at Booth #305.
Hank Brandtjen, president of Brandtjen & Kluge, approached Chicago Public Schools with the idea of producing a live job at the show that could be put to good use. “As a printing equipment manufacturer, we attend a lot of trade shows all over the world,” said Brandtjen. “The amount of paper that is, in essence, wasted as everyone demonstrates their equipment has always bothered me. I knew there had to be a cause that could benefit from free printing and a few phone calls put me in touch with Chicago Public Schools.”
“This is a great start for one of our new programs,” said Charles Schroeck, Manager of Citywide Partnership Programs for Chicago Public Schools. ” The folder is absolutely beautiful — so much more than we could have produced using our own resources. This project opens a whole new world of opportunities for partnering with other companies. Kluge has set a rich precedent for others to follow.” Brandtjen is confident that this cooperative effort is just the beginning. “At future trade shows, efforts will be made to encourage other suppliers to join in,” he added. “Education and printing go hand in hand. At next year’s show we hope to deliver even more of a message!”
The 4-color folder will be foil stamped and embossed on the Kluge EHD Foil Stamping, Embossing & Die Cutting Press and then folded and glued on the Kluge FlexFold 3600 Automatic folder gluer. Foils were donated by Kurz Transfer Products and dies were donated by H + M USA.
