Brandtjen & Kluge, LLC. is pleased to announce that it will now offer shaftless technology for its offset/UV flexo web press systems. This new technology will make it’s debut on the Kluge Web Press System shown on Stand #11B43 at DRUPA, Dusseldorf, Germany, May 18 – 31, 2000.
The addition of shaftless press technology to the Kluge Web Press System provides increased press flexibility, higher quality printing and reduced makeready times. Each print tower can be controlled independently and the operator is provided with a constant point of reference, “0” point and return point, when running or setting up. Static makereadies with zero paper travel result in minimum waste and shorter makeready times. The synchronization between units is also greatly improved, maintaining registration, even through speed changes. 360-degree electronic adjustment provides faster and more accurate registration on the run and measured, independent registration when the press is stopped. A shaftless system also provides tighter tolerances than a mechanical system.
A PC-based touch screen and machine logic control panel centralizes all the controls for increased operator efficiency. The touch screen control panel features a programmable ductor control for better quality printing and faster makeready, a press fault identification to quickly pinpoint web breaks and open guards, and a dampener control with speed follower for easier operation and print quality control at varying speeds. Additional centralized controls include a registration read out and a tower reverse control.
“Shaftless technology incorporated into a Kluge Web Press System allows for overall increased production, less downtime and higher profitability,” stated Hank Brandtjen, president of Brandtjen & Kluge. “The shaftless technology strengthens our position in the short to medium run markets and also allows us to join with our customers in entering new markets.”
